Secretaria de Prêmios e Apostas do Ministério da Fazenda publicou no Diário Oficial da União (DOU) uma série de portarias que autorizam o funcionamento de 66 sites de apostas no Brasil. A autorização para o funcionamento das bets vale por cinco anos. Cada empresa pagou uma outorga de R$ 30 milhões para funcionar regularmente. Segundo o governo, as portarias concedem autorização em caráter definitivo para 14 empresas, que representam 30 sites. Outras 52 tiveram autorização temporária e deverão resolver nos próximos 60 dias pendências relacionadas à certificação do sistema de apostas, dos jogos online e sua integração. O dia 1º de janeiro de 2025 marca o início do mercado regulado de apostas de quota fixa no Brasil. As empresas devem cumprir uma série de requisitos para operar, entre elas a manter sites com o domínio .bet.br. Segundo o governo, o mercado de apostas regulado vai permitir a correção de problemas estruturais e reduzir riscos associados à prática de apostas, como o superendividamento. Entre as principais medidas que entram em vigor no ano novo estão: a proibição de crédito para apostas e de bônus de entrada; a exigência de identificação dos apostadores por CPF; o reconhecimento facial; o controle dos fluxos financeiros.
